Progress report - Apr 27–May 3, 2015

This progress report has been circling around in our heads for a couple of weeks now, so I thought I'd give it a try. One of the plans is to start tracking and reporting on our page counts at the end of each week with a progress report, and open up our work process a little.

Ang and I don't always get a chance to meet and discuss our plans. If there is a key story issue in the writing we have on our plate at the moment, we often meet to plan it out, but once the overall plan is set in place, we move along at our own separate paces.

For example, over the past couple of weeks, I've been playing catch up on the work Ang has done on Part 2 of our novel that I fell behind on while teaching. Now that I am on her heels, I'm switching out of editing mode and planning on the next chapter that I need to write.

Previous to this last week, we started gaining momentum again, and got in a quick 14 pages before I stalled when my keyboard got wrecked.[1] Yet, my old work system of an iPad and cloud computing was hitting its limits, so the disaster gave me an excuse to commit and upgrade to a stronger computer.[2] So, at the moment, I am in waiting mode before I return to the more focused writing.

Most importantly, we also added a little button at the top for a newsletter. The plan is to do an email every two weeks with ten selected links, pictures, stories, or news from us that caught our attention. Hopefully you'll like it.

  1. The guilty party involved already feels bad, so I'll leave it at that. ↩︎

  2. Waiting is not strong suit and watching my new computer to skip around the globe to more places than I've been able to visit (it's made 7(!) different stops) is driving me slowly crazy. ↩︎
