Stepping away from the desk

Knowing when to stop for the day is as important as getting yourself to sit in the writing chair in the first place.

Sure, you can push yourself hard and build whopping daily word counts, yet at some point, you begin quality for quantity.

Stepping away from the desk lets your mind step back from the story. It gives you a chance to reconsider all angles of the story, and often see what you sometimes are missing.

Time away from the desk is not not wasted. It is in the moments of living life that your best stories are built.
