The Gift of Stories
Season's Readings
Hey everyone!
'Tis the season of giving, and we've got some presents to unwrap for you—updates about what we've been up to!
From Winter Weather to Book Fairs
November's events were everything we hoped for (and then some)! Mother Nature tested Saskatchewan readers with cold weather and snow storms at both markets, but our hardy book lovers proved unstoppable.
The Cathedral Market was filled with wonderful reunions: past and present students dropped by, neighbours caught up, and—a special highlight—David's sister attended her first-ever Counios and Gane market!
The Bookwyrm Book Fair brought together dedicated readers in a space where everyone shared one passion: books. We met some incredible people, including a retired teacher who shared inspiring stories that particularly resonated with Angie as she looks toward the later stages of her own teaching career. The cherry on top? Record sales of "Shepherd's Watch" (Angie's personal favourite), which tells us our first book is doing its job—getting readers hooked on Charlie and Tony's adventures.
Reading for the Industry
A highlight of November was sharing our work at Creative Saskatchewan's 10th Anniversary celebration. Standing in front of our province's entire creative community—arts, music, digital, film, and publishing all under one roof—was both intimidating and exciting. It was inspiring to be part of such a vibrant gathering and to see how far Saskatchewan's creative sector has come. The night was a testament to the amazing work Erin and her team have accomplished.
Home for the Holidays
As December unfolds, we're settling into different rhythms. The final boxes from David's move are finding their places in his new condo, and with no teaching commitments next semester, he's gearing up for focused writing time. Meanwhile, Angie—who's come a long way from resisting this time of year—is embracing all things holiday: the twinkling lights, cozy fires, and decorated trees.
While we won't be at any more markets this season, you can find our books at Indigo and Amazon. Remember, books make the best gifts—no batteries required, and one size fits all!
Until next time, happy reading!
